Meet Dr. Elizabeth Mier
I always knew I wanted to be in health care to help people. I have also loved painting and drawing from a young age. In college, I decided to shadow my family dentist, and I realized how hands-on dentistry is. I discovered that as a dentist, I would be able to physically do something to take patients out of pain and help them feel more confident about their smiles. Dentistry combines my two passions and I couldn’t be happier being able to do what I love every day!
I love the artistic side of dentistry. I enjoy being able to create beautiful restorations that are esthetic and natural looking, while following form, function, and biology. I love working alongside patients to understand their personal oral health goals, and helping them develop a plan to achieve those goals.
I truly enjoy getting to know each of my patients and developing lifelong relationships that are centered on trust. There is nothing more rewarding than helping a patient feel better, on the inside and out!
Education and Continuing Education
Growing up in Danville, CA, I graduated from Monte Vista High School and then went on to receive my Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology from the honors program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. While there, I was an active member of the sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, and very much enjoyed my semester abroad in Brisbane, Australia.
From Santa Barbara, I moved south to attend the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. While at USC, I achieved Dean's Honors for nine semesters and was an active member of the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. Providing dental care for underserved populations throughout Southern California, I was also very active with the USC Mobile Clinic. Building on this expansive patient care exposure, I also completed an internship at the La Maestra community health clinic in San Diego, CA.
Upon finishing dental school, I moved to Orange County where I practiced dentistry for three years before returning home to the Bay Area. I am an active member of the Contra Costa Dental Society, California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. I am also a member of the Spear Faculty Club, attending over 50 hours of continuing education per year, and regularly participating in local study clubs.
Personal Life
As a native to the San Francisco Bay Area, I grew up spending most winter weekends in the mountains of Tahoe, skiing, snowboarding, and playing in the snow. One of my earliest memories is of learning to ski at Northstar at the age of two! In more recent years, I have discovered the magic of Tahoe in the summer. Exploring the lake by boat, and hiking the trails of the Sierra Nevada, has become a favorite way to spend summer days. My parents decided to make the move to live in Truckee full time in 2019, and I am ecstatic to have followed in their footsteps. Being able to live and work in my favorite place is a dream come true!
In my free time, I love to travel, go hiking and camping, and spend time with family and friends.
